This is what I tell my students all the time - that is when they are answering a question. Otherwise, they can project their voices rather well!
The Day
“On a wonderful day like today, I defy any clouds to appear in the sky, dare any raindrops to plop in my eye, on a wonderful day like today.” (from Roar of the Greasepaint, Smell of the Crowd)
The sun finally emerged in Baltimore today for the Book Festival and it was great fun. I heard Lois Lowry, Mary Downing Hahn, and several other authors of middle school books speak. Naturally, I bought their books to have autographed, so cha-ching went the plastic entering the VISA machine. I also took pictures with my cell phone since the digital camera I took did NOT work. I’ll have to ask my son how to download the photos. Details, hmm . . .
In addition to hearing the authors speak, I also heard some great jazz and blues music, watched about 25 minutes of the Ravens game on a flat screen TV attached to the Budwiser trailer, and walked up the 228 steps of our Washington Monument. If I had asked how many steps there were before I headed up, I’m guessing I wouldn’t have achieved that feat today. Wow, that would be great training for anyone who wants to tighten his/her thighs.
My bonus is that I have off tomorrow for Yom Kippur. Thanks! Guess I’ll have to do some less exciting things, but this was a good day in the life and times of peppi51.
(via papertissue) This took me immediately to a scene in the 60’s movie, Blow Up with David Hemmings. He returns to a park late at night to look for a body that showed up in an earlier photo he had taken, developed, and blown up. The wind rustling through the trees is the only sound for several minutes (at least it seemed that long), and to this day that sound when I am alone makes me shiver.
a favor
New to the game, but I guess a re-twit is okay to tumble on:

Today, I found out that I’m immune to laughing gas and partially immune to novocaine while I was getting two teeth pulled. FML
(via papertissue) OUCH!
Jelly
So, was it the crackers and jelly I ate last night that encouraged me to put my pilates back together after moving it and adding the platform about 3 months ago? I was amazed at my success. My fear of failure and frustration kept the machine unassembled all summer - when I had the time to use it. Now, I’ll have to make the time to use it and erradicate the gelatinous substances surrounding my corporal being. Yeah, my arms “shake like a wet dog.” (Heard that this morning on Car Talk and had to use it. Of course, the caller was speaking of her car - not her arms.) Arm shakers of the world unite! We can eliminate jiggles and discourage giggles as we decrease our wiggles. Or, we can just have a few Long Island Ice Teas and forgetaboutit. Hmm…
To put meaning in one’s life may end in madness; but life without meaning is the torture of restlessness and vague desire; it is a boat longing for the sea and yet afraid.
