The Day
“On a wonderful day like today, I defy any clouds to appear in the sky, dare any raindrops to plop in my eye, on a wonderful day like today.” (from Roar of the Greasepaint, Smell of the Crowd)
The sun finally emerged in Baltimore today for the Book Festival and it was great fun. I heard Lois Lowry, Mary Downing Hahn, and several other authors of middle school books speak. Naturally, I bought their books to have autographed, so cha-ching went the plastic entering the VISA machine. I also took pictures with my cell phone since the digital camera I took did NOT work. I’ll have to ask my son how to download the photos. Details, hmm . . .
In addition to hearing the authors speak, I also heard some great jazz and blues music, watched about 25 minutes of the Ravens game on a flat screen TV attached to the Budwiser trailer, and walked up the 228 steps of our Washington Monument. If I had asked how many steps there were before I headed up, I’m guessing I wouldn’t have achieved that feat today. Wow, that would be great training for anyone who wants to tighten his/her thighs.
My bonus is that I have off tomorrow for Yom Kippur. Thanks! Guess I’ll have to do some less exciting things, but this was a good day in the life and times of peppi51.
